TOKYObay and SF Fashion Blogger Collaborate for 2012

TOKYObay, a San Francisco based fashion accessories brand in its 20th year, teams up with noted fashion blogger Laura Ellner to show off their main line and select 2012 collection. Photography for their first lifestyle lookbook launching in March, along with a two part video entitled ‘Passing Time’ launching at the end of January and March 2012, feature Laura as stylist and model wearing key pieces from the TOKYObay watch and bag line.

Shot in an old canning factory in the industrial area of SOMA in San Francisco, the imagery and videos will feature watches and bags which best show the TOKYObay signature pieces, a seasonal focus for 2012 and five of Laura’s favorite stylish looks. With the sparse concrete storehouse as the backdrop, concentrated trends include seventies, bright & pastel color blocking, ‘boyfriend’ styles and sophisticated work wear. Using Laura’s own wardrobe to compliment each look gives a wearable and individual take on TOKYObay's retro inspired watch and bag line.

TOKYObay's expertise within the watch and accessories market, combined with Laura Ellner's fashion credentials, creates eye catching imagery showing off the wearable on trend collection. The result of the collaboration has put a fashion face to the brand.

TOKYObay, San Francisco based fashion accessories brand, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, proving that, even in the digital age, the analogue watch isn’t going out of style. With clever design and affordable ranges of watches, bags and clocks, British and Japanese designers, Dory Isaacs and Jun Kobayashi, prove that function and fashion is the perfect formula.

Well known across the US and Canada for their watches, TOKYObay is seen on the shelves of high end independent boutiques, reputable department stores and catalogs. The watch line has caught the eye of the likes of Fred Siegel, Neiman Marcus, Anthropologie and a handful of MOMA and museum gift stores.

Last year saw an increase of over 40% compared to 2009 and the trend continues for 2011 with new additions to the line in the form of the Argent jewelry collection and an SF based guest designer collaboration watch and a ‘Best of 20 Years’ capsule watch collection. The latter is a TOKYObay retrospective which will include at least 5 TOKYObay watches from the last 20 years to be integrated back into the collection after being unavailable or discontinued. Customers will be able to choose from a selection of top sellers online via Facebook and Twitter. Over the last 10 years, TOKYObay has already successfully added a line of totes and cross body bags into the collection.

The newest addition launching in July 2011, part of the 20 year anniversary series, is Argent, a line of sterling silver & 9 ct. rose gold overlay pendant necklaces made in the U.S. The hand crafted pendants are based on early 1900’s pocket watch fobs collected over time by the designer. The original antique watch fobs are elaborately made British medals boasting variations of English crests and engravings personal to the original wearer. The fobs used to hang from the chains on men’s pocket watches as a decorative piece of jewelry and also acted as an anchor to secure the watch in the front pocket. TOKYObay reinvents these functional pieces into a collectable women’s line, retaining a unique vintage appeal. Argent is an elegant fusion of traditional & contemporary, securing the brand as a go to for key fashion accessories.

Chef Dominique Crenn is a master of artful, painterly plating and at her new Cow Hollow restaurant Atelier Crenn she's created a number of well landscaped dishes involving seafood, and sea-like scenes. One such dish, which she refers to here as Prawn on the Stone, is a simple sous vide prawn, cooked with orange oil, and served on a river rock and a slate slab with seaweed, micro cilantro, rouille, and a buttery rice foam. It isn’t every day that I stop dead in my tracks to stare at a piece of art. Rarely does something have the power to completely halt my life because I’m so astounded by its beauty and mystique. However, just this happened to me a few weeks ago when in a clothing store; I saw a watch that pulled me in like a siren – leaving me in an opened mouth trance. I researched the line further, and found out that TOKYOBay has been around me for years, and only now did I put a name to the pieces. Lucky for me, I was able to grab some time with founder and designer Dory Isaacs to get the skinny on one of the hippest and most creative lines of retro fusion watches on the market today...

The long awaited DIY Toolkit is finally here and ready to order!

The start of the original concept was a result of the badly tanking U.S. and world economy and also noticing a strong lifestyle trend to be more self sufficient. With recent technology in the last 5 years, vegan leather production has reached its height and can rival the look and feel of many leathers on the market. The cache which used to come with owning a leather designer handbag is dwindling with the recession and increase of environmentally aware celebrities and fashion influencers. 16th Annual Komen Denver Race for the Cure

This past Sunday, over 62,000 people came out to support the 16th Annual Komen Denver Race for the Cure. The sea of pink included over 3,000 breast cancer survivors, their loved ones, and thousands of other breast cancer awareness advocates. The Denver Race is projected to net more than $2.4 million for breast cancer research, education, treatment and screening programs.

On behalf of the entire eBags Team, THANK YOU for your generous product donation to the eBags booth. It made a tremendous impact on the event and its participants.

After the closing ceremonies, we raffled off the donated bags and accessories to a group of special and extremely brave breast cancer survivors. It was an unbelievably touching experience to see the expression on each woman’s face when she received her new bag. Click on any picture to see a full sized image.
